The Faculty of Arts held its first faculty seminar in the 2016/2017 session on the 28th of February, 2017 at Room 32.
The seminar paper with the topic: “Looking but not seeing: Interrogating Consumers’ Interactions with Nutritional Labeling” was presented by Dr. Olayinka Egbokhare of the Department of Communication and Language Arts (CLA).
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof B. Ekanola, in his address welcomed everyone present and thanked the presenter for agreeing to deliver the paper at a short notice. He also noted that the faculty seminars were aimed at working towards the vision of the faculty.

“Our vision is to ensure that the faculty is the first and the best and the faculty seminars keep pushing us towards that goal.”

The seminar was based on the analysis of how consumers do not take note of important he alth issues while looking at food labels and packages. The seminar also showed that there is low awareness level among consumers about the connection between what they eat and their health.
Eminent personalities in the faculty were present during the seminar. They include Prof Francis Egbokhare of the Linguistics Department; Prof Oludayo Soola of the department of CLA; the Head of Department of CLA, Prof Ayobami Ojebode; the Chairman of the planning committee, Prof Dele Adeyanju; Prof Ademola Da-Sylva of the English Department; Prof Ayantayo of the Religious Studies Department and most of the senior lecturers in CLA.
